Real Estate Profession in Malaysia

The real estate profession has moved beyond the old concept of “brokering” between house owners and buyers.

Today, the profession covers every conceivable transaction and renting of properties; be it apartments, houses, commercial buildings, office space, industrial buildings and land of every category.

The profession had gained enough respect that certain developers are willing to engage real estate agents to market their projects. Managing properties for owners is a further proof how much the profession had expanded.

In Malaysia, all practicing estate agents must be approved and registered with the  Board of Valuers, Appraisers and Estate Agents. Currently there are approximately 2,000 estate agents registered with the board. Each estate agent is usually assisted by a number of real estate negotiators in the marketing of the properties.

Real Estate Profession

Getting into the real estate business can be one of the most rewarding, yet tiresome occupations out there. Whether the rewards outweigh the downfalls of the position really does depend on the person looking into the career.

If you are a family-oriented person or someone who likes to spend a lot of time to themselves or enjoying the more leisurely things in life and you are really not looking to give these things up (at least for a while), real estate may not be the right gig for you.

Generally, getting settled into the real estate business can take up to six months, or even a year! Of course, a year does sound like an extremely long time to get into an occupation, but if you think about it and take into consideration all of the steps that are involved, that time frame is fairly reasonable.
